Organizing The Pantry + Pantry Staples
When I look at social media day after day, it constantly feels like everyone has their sh*t together. Like every single person out there has a giant walk-in closet designed by Jay Pritchett’s Closests Closests Closests, a completely spotless WHITE kitchen, and a pantry as big as my home. Everything always looks perfect and it gives me major anxiety that I can’t live up to those expectations. I’m not sure when everyone became a millionaire out there, but that’s not the life I live here in our home. We have a very well-used kitchen with a small pantry and a closest that is bursting at the seams. But when things aren’t organized in this house, the mess causes some major stress.
So I recently decided no more. No more opening the pantry and having instant anxiety at the clutter that stared back at me. I have plenty of daily stress from running my own business, so I want to keep my stress at home as low as possible. And it was a pretty easy fix when I started at the pantry! And there are so many different ways to organize thanks to places like Bed Bath & Beyond and The Container Store. Just walk in either store and you’ll find spice racks, food storage bins, shelves, and everything in between. And with a few simple items, you’ll have an organized pantry where it’s easy to find what you need in seconds.
Now when you look at my pantry, it’s not some walk-in, climb a ladder to get to the 4th floor to grab a can of soda, kind of pantry. It’s a normal, small pantry with limited space. Which forced me to make the most of the room we had. When I started organizing our pantry, I already had a few shelves to help double the storage throughout. But what I didn’t have was clear bins so I could see exactly what was in the pantry at all times. So I loaded up on clear bins, I found a couple lazy susans for a 360 view of some items that I’ve stocked up on, and a ton of clear resealable bins for all my baking flours. Click photo below to be brought to each item I purchased to organize the pantry!
And since I’m pulling back the curtain and showing you everything that’s in our pantry, I thought I would share which items I try to keep in stock at all times. Obviously I probably have more than what the normal person needs to have on hand since I’m cooking for the blog most days, but I do think having many of these things in stock makes cooking for yourself and your family easy and quick, even when you’re in a pinch!

And that’s exactly what you’ll find in my pantry! Ever since I organized it, I have this weight lifted off my shoulders. Not completely since my office-closet is still a sh*t show, but enough that I can concentrate on other tasks at hand. I saw a quote somewhere saying – “Organization isn’t about perfection, it’s about efficiency, reducing stress and clutter, saving time and money, and improving your overall quality of life.” This pantry isn’t perfect and it’s not Jay Pritchett designed, but I now can see everything inside and I’ve now removed a stressor in my life. Nothing goes to waste and nothing is forgotten about.
Now the only thing I need is to label everything throughout. Problem is, I hate all labels. I don’t like label makers, I don’t like chalkboard labels, I don’t like the over-the-top cursive labels. So I’m a little stuck, but I’ll figure it out. In the meantime, I’ll be staring in my pantry because it gives me SO much satisfaction. Organizing is the best.
