Bundle Up & Get Outside Together This Winter

Here’s the thing about winter – I kind of hate it. Winter and I have a complicated relationship and we have had this issue for about 30 years now. You see, I’ve lived in Colorado all my life. Which means I’ve experienced 30 winters. That’s hundreds of snowstorms and somehow I still don’t feel ready whenever I wake up to snow or freezing temperatures outside. And that’s mostly because I’m so use to spending most of my life outside. So when cold temperatures blow in and it’s time to walk Jackson, I hesitate. But that’s just not an option. I get my exercise in almost every day and Jackson deserves the same.
With that being said, I’m not going to buy a new wardrobe that’s only for cold walks with Jackson. I need a wardrobe that doubles for my normal day-to-day life. A wardrobe that also doubles for workouts and comfortable clothing for my workdays at home. And that’s where Backcountry comes into play. I have become completely obsessed with Backcountry lately because they have some of my favorite brands for daily life. They offer a ton of my favorite activewear like Alo Yoga, Beyond Yoga, Prana, Adidas, Nike, Lolë, and even their own Backcountry label. Plus they offer some adorable products for dogs from their Ruffwear line so I can keep Jackson as happy as I am every time I shop at Backcountry!
With this upcoming New Year ahead, I’ll be talking a lot about staying active. For so many, exercise can feel like a chore. At least it did for me back in the day. But I want to show people that exercise doesn’t always have to feel like exercise. It can come in the form of so many different things. And having Jackson in my life has showed me that exercise together can be quite entertaining. We go on long walks together, we’ve gone hiking together, we go to the creek together, and with the Ruffwear line from Backcountry, now we have toys to play with in the park together. No more excuses and no more hibernating when temperatures drop. Jackson deserves his exercise just as much as me and thanks to layering and fun toys, we are able to stay active together this winter!
If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably always thought of Backcountry as a site for outdoor enthusiasts; for people who love hiking or ice climbing or camping or skiing. But as you may know, I’m not one of those people. I’ve lived in Colorado my whole life and I’ve done all those outdoor activities, but I’m much more of a gym lover and homebody. But what I’ve come to find on Backcountry is they have SO MUCH more than what I first thought. Backcountry simply wants to keep you moving year round, no matter what your activity interest is. They want you to enjoy every bit of what this earth has to offer and they want you to look and feel good throughout. And since I have started shopping with Backcountry more often, I have found that they have A TON of items I can’t find anywhere else. Like these Adidas Ultraboost X Running Shoes. These sneakers are my all time favorite shoes. I have them in 4 different colors because of how incredibly comfortable they are. And they are becoming harder and harder to find. But on Backcountry, I found them 6 different colors that I couldn’t find anywhere else. These sneakers make sprints in the park with Jackson way more enjoyable.
And once I found my favorite Adidas sneakers, it was so easy to put together a look I could wear in and outside of the gym. I first grabbed THE MOST COMFORTABLE pair of Beyond Yoga Spacedye High Waisted Midi Leggings and paired it with a Beyond Yoga Reversible Cropped Tank to wear once I got to the gym later in the day. Then I layered the look for the park day with Jackson with a Backcountry Blanche Crew Sweatshirt and Prana Diva Bomber Insulated Jacket. This day at the park included some cold wind blowing in a snowstorm, but the Prana Insulated Bomber with a sherpa fleece lining was so incredibly warm and I could barely feel the wind blowing. And this Bomber Jacket will look so cute with a pair of jeans and booties. It’s definitely a double duty jacket!
But one of my favorite parts to this park day look was the Adidas Outdoor Sport To Street Premium Tote. I have a handful of gym bags, but this one stands above the rest. Literally. I love that this tote doesn’t fall and crumble the moment you take something out of it. It has a flat base so it stays put, even on uneven grass outside. And it has pockets for everything! I packed a water bottle, a Ruffwear Quencher Dog Bowl for Jackson, and his Ruffwear Hydro Plane Dog Toy. As soon as I set that bag down, he knew I had something fun for him inside and he was immediately excited for me to unzip the bag. Seeing him excited to play in the park got me excited to be outside and to play with him.
It’s been so cool to get the opportunity to work with Backcountry and to see that they are a company that offers so much more than just products for outdoor professionals and enthusiasts. They are simply a company that wants their customers to explore, to try new things, and to enjoy any outdoor moment; no matter what that moment looks like. Whether you want to surf, hike, run, walk, flyfish, try yoga, or simply travel somewhere, Backcountry has something for every person out there. And they care so much about the environment we are all so lucky to experience that they have partnered with The Nature Conservancy since 2008 to support its mission of protecting our lands and waters.
And one of my favorite parts about Backcountry is that they offer free 2-day shipping on all orders over $50 across the country. Every time I’ve placed an order with Backcountry, I’m always so surprised at how fast the order shows up on my doorstep. This free 2-day shipping will definitely come in handy this holiday season as Christmas gets a little closer and I’m trying to figure out what to buy for people last minute. Plus their customer service team is available 24/7 via chat, email and phone. They will help you with anything whether it’s a question about a product, exchanges and returns, or to simply provide updates on your order status. So if you have some holiday shopping to do, they will make sure you get the perfect product for your special someone.
Hibernation is not an option this year. Especially if you have a pup relying on your for his exercise. Do yourself and your pup a favor this season by layering up and finding ways to stay active outside. Go on a run together, go on a hike, or go throw a dog toy. Make this season your healthiest and happiest winter to date. Backcountry will make sure you are warm and cozy no matter what special moment you have planned!
