One of my Resolutions this year was to work on my entertaining skills. I'm not a natural born entertainer by any means, but I've been making an effort to work on it because there's truly something to be said about attending a social gathering thrown by a fantastic hostess.

I've been meaning to incorporate a stocked bar cart into my space for a while. It seemed to go hand in hand with learning to make a couple drinks and finally figure out what I like as a drinker. To be honest, I'm not much of a drinker. Part of it is that I just don't like feeling buzzed, and the other part is that I don't know what I like but I know for sure that I don't want one of those sugary, sub-par cocktails of my college days! Again, I've been working on it.

For the bar cart, I wanted it to be aesthetically pleasing, not too fussy, and go with my current decor. I live in a cool loft space, so there are beams and piping throughout the ceiling area, super high ceilings, and lots of natural light. My space is industrial with a little boho glam mixed in (see tour here from when I first moved in about three years ago - actually, maybe it's time to do an update). Anyway, I chose this matte gold bar cart because it had a simple design, was relatively inexpensive, and had good reviews. It is sturdy and well made, and I'm happy with the purchase.

I decorated it with stuff that reflected my life. While I like the look of flowers on a bar cart, I think they're a waste of money, so I put a simple succulent on a wooden round to add that element of life. I also added a gold rhino statue I got in Morocco (similar) that sits on a gold tray (similar) I got from the Box of Style, and an oud diffuser I got in Dubai. My friend gifted me the barware, so I put them on the cart in addition to a couple glasses, some healthy-ish mixers, and alcohol. Zachys also sent me an organic white wine and an organic red wine, which are great additions to the cart as well.

I'm embarrassed to admit that I had no idea if you could mix metals. I went down a big rabbit hole of trying to learn more about interior design and basically found that the rules are meant to be broken and if you like it, do it. I read that if you're going to mix metals, to also mix texture, and have a few prominent metals and then use the others as accents. I feel like I sort of achieved that here with gold as the prominent metal, and then pops of copper. That bowl on the upper right is actually silver which is in the same family tone as the birch round, so I don't know, I feel like I pulled it all together? Am I a professional? Clearly not. Do I care? Nah. I really like the travel elements, the style of the cart, and how it all sort of comes together nicely.
