Ryan Reynolds Trolls Hugh Jackman in Hilarious, Fake Political Ad
The gloves are coming off in the faux feud between Deadpool and Wolverine.
Ahead of today’s (Nov. 6) monumental midterm elections, Ryan Reynolds released an “attack ad” against Hugh Jackman, accusing him of being a “fake foreigner” from Milwaukee and “adding to unemployment” by retiring from his role as Wolverine. The fake ad is a play on Jackman’s latest turn in The Frontrunner, a biopic of former Colorado senator Gary Hart who was forced to withdraw from the 1988 presidential election when he was caught having an affair.
The role has already started to garner Oscar buzz for Jackman—something Reynolds was none too pleased about. Reynolds accuses Jackman of using an alias (“it’s Hugh Michael Jackman”) and faking his “charming” Australian accent. He then asks, “Is this the type of amazing actor and nice person you want to be delivering a preachy liberal speech this awards season? Or maybe there’s a real foreigner from a bordering country who would really love it…a lot.”

Jackman responded by taking the “high road.” He posted a video of his French bulldog, Dali, doing his business on a photo of the Canadian star.

They’ve been playfully ribbing each other for years. Reynolds roasted Jackman while interviewing him for this 2016 film Eddie the Eagle and Jackman responded by encouraging fans to pee on Reynolds’ new star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In 2017, Reynolds replied to a photo of Jackman posing with fans at the Beijing premiere of Logan with, “Pretty sure those are protesters.” And in May of this year, Jackman addressed Reynolds’ obsession with him on Good Morning America saying, “Play a little hard to get. It’s too much, it’s not sexy.”
Reynolds’s wife Blake Lively has even joined in on the fun, responding to a photo of the pair: “Is the extra distance between you supposed to convince me that you DON’T love him more than me?? Nice try.”
